Our lives are very stressful. We work our butts off at work, home, and possibly for our family. For Lester Nygaard (Martin Freeman) this fact is very true. His wife nags him and says he is weak, and his brother wishes Lester was never born. A high school bully causes Lester to break his nose, while he is at the hospital he meets a mysterious man (Billy Bob Thornton) and he tells Lester if he was in the same situation he would have killed the man. Two days later the high school bully is dead. I wont disclose any of the other deaths in the series because of spoiler, but I will say this is a thought-provoking TV show for older teens (16+).
Language: Several uses of sh-t, a--, damn, hell, d-ck, one or two uses of p-ssy, piss, and b-tch, and one use of c-m.
Sexual content: a few verbal sexual references and once or twice woman sport low cut dresses or clothing. There are two skippable scenes, the first is only for a few seconds and isn't as bad as the second scene. The first scene takes place in episode one and the second (and worse) scene takes place in Episode 7. If the two scenes are skipped it significantly lessens the darkness of the show. We can briefly see a woman in a skimpy clothes in the background of one scene. A man watches porn and we hear it for a split second before he's interrupted, none of it is shown.
Violence: Most of the violence in Fargo is sporadic meaning in some episode there is little to none and in others there is some bloody deaths. The worst of the violence is probably in the first episode. Several people are shot, stabbed, and hit with blunt objects. Two men drown on seperate occasions. 75% of the violence scene is suitable for a PG/PG-13 movie, but the other 25% deserves an R rating.
Drug and Alcohol: brief drug references and people drink.
Other: People lie and it seems like a lot of the characters are evil, which makes this a show better suited for sixteen and up.
Probable MPAA rating: R for violence and some sexuality.
