The Walk Book Content Review

This book was previously published under the name To Reach the Clouds.
Philippe Petit crossed eight times back and forth across the World Trade Centers. He got pardoned, but what the Frenchman did was illegal. So, while you as a reader probably shouldn't do what he did, it is interesting to hear about his walk and how he rigged the wire without getting caught. Also, at the end of the book there is a small memorial to World Trade Center after 9/11.
Language: Two f-cks, 8 or 9 uses of sh-t, a couple uses each of b-tch, b-stard, a--, and damn. Several uses of hell, one use of w-ore
Sexual: When he is caught Philippe is taken to a courtroom and sees three woman get prosecuted for prostitution. One chapter title is called sex, and Philippe and a woman have sex, but its not described at all. Philippe briefly describes the curves on the loose wire as looking like "sensual" curves. Philippe is naked for a time on top of the World Trade Center while he looks for a very small wire. He strips so that he can feel for the wire. He puts his clothes back on after he finds it.
Violence: Philippe gruesomely steps on a nail, which impales his foot. While no one is physically hurt the book still has perilous parts, like the wire-walk.
Other: It is illegal to hang a wire between to buildings. Philippe says he prefers for his wire-walks to be illegal at first, but later once he becomes a hero he does other wire-walks legally. Obviously all his accomplishes were doing illegal things too.
