The Martian
Starring: Matt Damon, Kate Mara, Kristen Wiig, and Sean Bean
Rating: *****
MPAA Rating: PG-13 for some strong language, injury images, and brief nudity
Well, to be honest I thought this film would be rated R. But, it wasn't. The language (see my book review) is much more toned down than the book of the same name. Matt Damon plays Mark Watney flawlessly. All the other acting is strong too so, possibly some award winning things. The background looked very real and the film seemed mostly real. Ridley Scott who directed the iconic movie Aliens, now directs a movie on Mars in which no aliens are involved. Actually, if you get past the couple uses of the f-word the film is pretty family oriented for about 12 and up. Most of it is about the struggle to survive instead of gore, sex or violence. This film might be one I put up on my shelf.
