Foxcraft Book One (The Taken)

If you like foxes, mystery, and magic then this book is for you. Unlike Felidae or Fell this is the first junior fiction animal book I have reviewed. With Felidae being and adult book and Fell being a young adult book. Foxcraft is like most junior fiction books, I think its perfect for pre teens, and actually a few of the scenes in it were pretty thrilling. Aside from the action you don't need to worry about any language or sexual content. This is a clean and thrilling book.

Violence Content: Isla, the protagonist, is chased several times by enemy foxes. One of those said, foxes falls from a tall height, but that's all we here. Her body is never seen. Also, a characters parents are killed, again not graphic. Isla's friend Siffrin fights with several other foxes and winds up pretty beaten up. A wolf bites a fox's neck and the fox dies and her head falls off. (Not graphic, but probably the worst part). Humans tease Isla and throw rocks at her. Isla is put in a pound, (she doesn't know it), one by one foxes are taken away to be put down. (Not described.) It is mentioned that several baby foxes (two or three days old) were put down. (This scene was a little dark, while not graphic hearing this from the viewpoint of a fox is scary)

Drug and alcohol content: None

Other content: a couple of characters lie to each other.
