This book was so good I couldn't put it down. I read it in a day. Also, before I got the book it had been a few months since I had read the first bok in the series. Anyway, its a great book. Despite some disturbing content.
After escaping Vosch's clutches, our heroes are split up on many adventures. As with most of my reviews I can't add much to the summary because it could spoil the book.
Language: Several uses of f-ck, a few more of the s-word, a use of p-ssy and d-ck, uses of SOB, a-- (used both anotomatically and obscenely), and hell and damn. A little girl says the s-word and the f-word repeatedly three times each in a scene.
Sexual Content: One of our main characters is reunited with his girlfriend from years ago. (Slight Spoiler Alert) she is evil, and our main character knows it. She treats this characters burns and in one scene as she is rubbing the ointment all over his body she begins to unbutton her shirt. He stops her before she can do anything else. Two other characters lie on top of one another, while completely clothed, (non-sexual) but, the girl says she's tempted to remove her shirt, (she doesnt). An enemy asks a protagonist if her boyfriend is perfect in bed. Two characters lie in bed together and the man briefly touches the woman, both of them are clothed.
Violent Content: Children are used as bombs. 5 years old and younger swallow a pill and a wire is attatched to the back of their throat. When CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) is breathed on the wire enough it explodes. It kills the kid and everyone around him/her. One of these detonations is successful, the other unlucky kid has the wire removed by the protagonists while she is asleep. She wakes up while they are removing the wire which makes for an incredibly tense moment. People are shot and stabbed, some survive some don't. A woman is shot in the back, another is stabbed through the neck with a shower rod. Others are thrown against walls. One kid who is dying is shot in both knees some how he manages to stand and blows the building he's in along with his killer. An evil woman is thrown to the ground and has wire pressed against her hand so tight it cuts down to the bone. People remove trackers from the back of their necks with knives. A boy has severe second degree burns. Some of the deaths and fights are completely bloodless, while others have some blood. But, none of these scenes venture to far into the adult category.
Drugs and Alcohol: Ringer's dad is a drunk and he dies when he can't get his drinks.
Other Content: A woman purposely eats a laxative within a pudding and then purposely goes "#2" to escape a facility. She also pukes. A couple scenes deal with memories of families and enemies mocking other's families. A few uses of syringes. (If you don't like shots)
Age Rating: 15+
Rating: R for brief language, thematic elements some suggestive content, disturbing and bloody images, and for strong sequences of violence.
